Story

You inhabit in a fantastical universe where anything can happen. Super powered beings exist, and living a normal life is no easy feat for anyone. In such an extraordinary world, an average day can be ruined by the strangest of threats; be it viral zombies, megalomaniacal criminals or assassination attempts. All just part of a normal day in a very abnormal world. You don’t even glance up at the shrill whine of sirens or the roar of a giant monster a few blocks over. In the sky above a caped character is flying towards the fray; a member of some super hero team or perhaps a lone vigilante. Maybe the monster is a mythical creature or an invading alien or a minion of the latest super villain. Really, it’s all the same; pandemonium as usual. A van is hurled down the street followed by another monstrous howl but you go casually about your business- buy your paper, sip your latte- and mutter cynically to yourself, “Oh marvelous.”

Premise

Oh Marvelous is a social, thread based third person age 18+ Marvel RPG played in real time at a relatively fast pace. It encompasses almost all** of Marvel and is set in present day. Although the game is New York centric, action takes place in locations all over the world. Plot is primarily player driven with occasional inclusive plots that affect the entire game. There is no set timeline and no particular Marvel continuity to which this game adheres. This means that basically anything and anyone goes.

-Reactionary measures have been taken to counter super powered threats, most notably in America and Great Britain, requiring mutants to register with the governments.

-Zombies ravage New Orleans.

-The Hulk gets revenge.

Characters

First, I will not accept original characters. There are enough canon characters in the Marvel-verse that you will likely find one with the sort of powers you want. That said there are not any Marvel canon characters (with a few exceptions- The Hulk, Apocalypse, and Legion. Basically anyone just ridiculous. If you're a fan of Marvel you probably know who not to app, or can scale down their ability enough to make it acceptable.**) that I will reject. As long as you can viably explain their existence (this goes for characters from other universes/the future/past) then I will probably allow them. If you want a ridiculously over powered character then please come up with limitations or a simplified version of their abilities. If you have questions or want to work something out, just pm/email/IM me and we’ll discuss it.

Even though my knowledge of certain aspects of Marvel is weak, I will always be willing to look things up and work with you as long as you’ll have patience with my ignorance. I would also absolutely love players to take up leader characters like Xavier, Moira MacTaggert, etc.

As I am ignoring timelines and “main continuity”, I don’t mind if you pull character traits and plot elements out of other Marvel continuities (for example, my Scarlet Witch has a similar history to the Ultimate Scarlet Witch, the Avengers are a S.H.I.E.L.D. funded organization, and I have an undying love for the Samuel Jackson-esque Nick Fury).

I don’t feel that a character's age should have to depend on other character's ages. Just because particular characters are on the same team in one Marvel storyline does not mean they have to be on the same team in this game. For example, Kitty Pryde can be a young woman in Excalibur and does not have to be a teenager on the X-Men team. On that same note, not all characters are teenagers and it is perfectly fine to play older characters.

Affiliations

Since this game is based on all the Marvel-verse you can be affiliated with any group you want, or none at all. This includes the X-men, the Avengers, Excalibur, The Fantastic Four, Black Air, the Brotherhood, and basically any other Marvel group you can think of. Just include your affiliation where it asks for it on the application. Also, just because you pick a particular affiliation to begin with does not mean you’re stuck with that forever. Characters can always switch to other teams, become villains, or become disillusioned and turn into lonesome renegades. Affiliation switching makes for lovely plots.

Locations

Characters can be anywhere in the world that they'd like to. Some of the groups have headquarters in particular places and so I will keep a page dedicated to the weather and time in those particular places. If we get more groups, their headquarter cities will be added to the page.
Now, just because characters are spread out, doesn’t mean interaction is impossible. This is a world of modern technology after all. Feel free to have your characters travel; it’s certainly not inconceivable that they would. That’s what airplanes are for, after all. You can even thread phone conversations in if you’d like. Don’t let distance limit you.

So, I’m Ashley and I’m your mod. I am twenty-two and have been role-playing since I was about fourteen. I have experience in various fandoms and have a particular love of Marvel that prompted me to start this game.
